Maliz Beams

Maliz E. Beams oversees all of TIAA-CREF's areas responsible for Individual and Institutional Client Services, including the company's Wealth Management Group, Advice and Planning; Insurance, Trust, Brokerage and Wealth product management; telephone counseling centers, on-campus Field Consulting Group and Institutional Relationships. She also serves as president and chief executive officer of TIAA-CREF Individual & Institutional Services, LLC and as a member of the company's Executive Management Team. Prior to being named executive vice president, Ms. Beams was head of TIAA-CREF's Wealth Management business, Individual Trust, and Advice & Planning Services. Ms. Beams joined TIAA-CREF in 2004 as head of TIAA-CREF's Wealth Management business, and Advice & Planning Services. She has 30 years experience with the financial services industry - in both domestic and international markets - specializing within institutional, high net worth and retail markets.

Prior to joining TIAA-CREF, Ms. Beams was a partner and managing director of Zurich Scudder Investments, managing over $450 billion of assets. She served as president of Global Business Development for the Mutual Fund Group. Prior to assuming this position, Ms. Beams headed Scudder's International Mutual Fund and Offshore Businesses in charge of Asia, Europe, Middle East and South America. She also served as head of the U.S. Scudder Direct Retail Funds and, simultaneously, as chief executive officer of the Scudder Brokerage Business.

Before joining Scudder, Ms. Beams served as managing director of the Tax Exempt Institutional Business and chief executive officer of the Discount Brokerage Business of Fleet Investment Advisers, the Assets Management Division of Fleet Financial Services, which at the time was the 7th largest financial services holding company in the U.S. She also served as managing director of Strategy & Marketing overseeing Institutional Asset Management, 401(k) Retirement, High Net Worth, Private Banking and Retail Investment businesses. Previously, Ms. Beams was a director in the Consumer Card Group at American Express and headed Citibank's Retail Acquisition and Relationship Management Business for Citibank New York Banking Division.

Ms. Beams has a B.A. from Boston College and her MBA from the Columbia Business School, with additional graduate work at Harvard University.
