Service Update

New York/Denver, December 29, 2006 --

You may be aware of the severe weather over the last two weeks that has impacted the Denver area, home to one of our TIAA-CREF customer service centers.  Most recently, the governor declared a State of Emergency on December 28, 2006 in anticipation of blizzard conditions through Saturday, December 30.

The inclement weather, along with increased transaction volumes to meet year-end processing deadlines, are contributing to longer wait times to speak with a consultant and complete service requests. We apologize for any delay you may experience and have taken a number of steps to improve our service to you.

Our employees are working extended hours through the holiday weekend and many of our employees in Denver have volunteered to work through the storm. We have also increased staffing in our Southern Service Center. We are committed to delivering on our service promise to you.

Please accept our best wishes for a Happy New Year.
